Insta360 launches magnetic rear-screen monitor for iPhone

Insta360 launches Snap Selfie Screen, a 3.5‑inch 4K touchscreen that magnetically attaches to the back of iPhone and Android phones. It lets users frame selfies with the rear camera, turning the device into a rear‑facing monitor. The accessory ships in two versions: a base model for $79.99 and a Light edition adding an adjustable LED for $10 more today.

The screen mirrors the phone’s view in real time, offering “what you see is what you get” framing for 4K video and photos. No external power source is required; a built‑in battery runs the display long enough for a shoot. The Light version, co‑developed with beauty‑tech firm AMIRO, provides three colour options and five brightness levels to illuminate low‑light subjects during shoots.

Insta360 announced the Snap in April and began shipping through its website and Amazon this week. By offering a standalone monitor rather than a case, the company sidesteps the bulk of traditional selfie accessories while tapping a growing niche for rear‑screen photography. If retailers adopt the format, magnetic rear screens could become a standard add‑on for premium smartphones in the market.
