The Halide 3.1 update, arriving Friday, July 10, introduces several new features for iPhone photographers. A significant addition is a perspective correction tool, designed to adjust vertical lines in photos, akin to traditional keystone correction. This aims to help users easily fix architectural distortions or achieve more balanced compositions.

The update also debuts a new visual preset called "Scarlet." This mode is specifically engineered to "make reds really pop," featuring high saturation and medium-high contrast, intended to enhance images like sunsets. Beyond these headline features, Halide 3.1 includes a dedicated Customization panel for UI themes and app icons, and new compression controls allowing users to balance image quality with file size.

Advanced users will benefit from an opt-in RAW-only mode, enabling capture without automatic JPEG or HEIC generation. The app also refines viewfinder behavior, preventing accidental focus or exposure changes when tapping in manual modes. These updates suggest a continued focus on providing powerful, flexible camera tools for mobile photography enthusiasts.
