Epic Rejects Apple's Settlement Talks in App Store Case

Epic Games has filed its response to Apple's request for court-ordered settlement talks in the ongoing App Store lawsuit.

On Thursday, Apple submitted its proposed commission structure for in-app purchases made outside the App Store system in the US, proposing commissions of up to 15%. That same day, Apple also asked Judge Yvonne Gonzalez Rogers to order settlement conference attendance.

Epic stated it remains willing to entertain serious settlement proposals from Apple that introduce competition and benefit all developers, but does not believe settlement conference referral would meaningfully advance prospects at this juncture. Epic added it will participate in good faith if the Court orders referral.

Judge Gonzalez Rogers must now decide whether to refer the case to a settlement conference under Magistrate Judge Joseph C. Spero's supervision. Epic's response suggests Apple's settlement efforts may be too little, too late.
