Apple confirmed that its Trumbull, Connecticut, North County, California, and Towson Town Center, Maryland stores will shut permanently on June 20. The Trumbull and North County locations close at 9 p.m., while Towson locks its doors at 8 p.m. The company had previously only promised closures sometime in June, prompting local shoppers to plan final visits for their loyal customers.

Apple cited “the departure of several retailers and declining conditions” at the Trumbull Mall, the Shops at North County, and Towson Town Center as the driver. Trumbull Mall recently defaulted on over $150 million in loans, and Towson saw multiple brand exits this year. The Towson store is also the first unionized Apple location in the United States, adding labor tension to the decision and heightened scrutiny from regulators.

Apple says employees from Trumbull and North County will transfer to nearby stores, while Towson staff may apply for open roles under the collective bargaining agreement. Critics argue the closure undermines the union’s bargaining power. Despite shuttering three sites, Apple opened eleven new stores worldwide and upgraded twelve U.S. locations this year, signaling continued investment in its retail footprint across major markets.
