Apple unveiled the next phase of Apple Intelligence at WWDC 2026, built on a second‑generation on‑device model and a Google Gemini partnership. The system taps Spotlight’s semantic index to boost search relevance, adds broad world knowledge, and introduces on‑screen awareness for contextual actions. These upgrades power the new Siri experience and other AI‑enhanced apps across iOS 27.

Mike Rockwell, VP of Siri Engineering, demonstrated Siri AI inside a dedicated app that replaces the old edge‑glow with a Dynamic Island‑style dark interface. The assistant now reads Instagram locations, accesses contacts without repeated prompts, and supports custom voice settings. Write with Siri extends to CarPlay, AirPods, watchOS 27, Vision Pro, and a Camera mode that can split bills or add calendar events.

Apple refreshed system apps with AI‑driven features. Safari now groups tabs by topic and offers a natural‑language “Notify Me” watchlist. Messages can suggest reminders, and Home and Photos gain intelligent notifications and enhanced cleanup tools. Most capabilities work on existing devices; premium limits need iCloud+, and Siri AI beta launches later this year, excluding the EU and China.
