Apple Music Leads AI Music Transparency

Apple Music published an open letter affirming its commitment to keeping music fair in the AI era. The streaming service maintains technology should amplify artists, not replace them, as AI-generated content represents less than 1% of all plays on the platform. Apple Music requires clear labeling for AI works while exploring innovative opportunities for artists.

The service became the first global platform to implement AI content tagging in March. Apple has developed tools to identify AI-generated content and automatically removes songs with manipulated streams. In 2025, the company excluded about 2 billion manipulated streams, redistributing those royalties to creators while maintaining a below 0.5% manipulation rate.

Apple's editorial team keeps human curation at the core of its service while leveraging AI features like AutoMix and Playlist Playground to enhance user experience. The company doubled penalties for extreme stream manipulation in February and continues leading the industry in preventing fraud through advanced detection systems.
