Apple and Ford have announced a significant partnership that will integrate Apple Maps directly into Ford's upcoming Universal Electric Vehicle (UEV) Platform, starting in 2027. This collaboration utilizes Apple's new Map Kit for Automotive SDK to deliver a seamless navigation experience on vehicle displays.

Drivers using Ford's UEV models will benefit from turn-by-turn directions in natural language, real-time traffic updates, and intuitive search capabilities powered by Apple Maps. The integration also includes intelligent EV routing features like battery preconditioning. Furthermore, Ford's Latitude AI team will leverage road-level information from Apple Maps to enhance its next-generation Blue Cruise hands-free highway driving system, aiming for a more integrated on-ramp to off-ramp experience.

This direct integration means even drivers without an iPhone will have access to Apple Maps' features. While Apple CarPlay will remain an option, this move signifies a deeper embedding of Apple's mapping technology into automotive systems. Ford CEO emphasized the honor of being "among the first" to embed Apple Maps directly into a vehicle, hinting at future collaborations between Apple and other automakers.
