Apple released an update ahead of WWDC, detailing App Store protections. It cites 850 million weekly visitors across 175 storefronts and outlines multilayered defenses using human review and machine learning. Regulatory scrutiny and high‑profile scams have kept the store under fire, so the disclosure aims to reassure stakeholders.

For 2025 alone, Apple reports preventing over $2.2 billion in fraudulent transactions, rejecting more than 2 million malicious app submissions, and blocking 1.1 billion fake account creations. It also deactivated 40.4 million accounts, terminated 193 000 developer accounts for fraud, removed 58 900 bait‑and‑switch apps, and flagged 22 000 submissions with hidden features plus 443 000 privacy violations.

The App Review team processed 9.1 million submissions, welcomed 306 000 new developers, and blocked 195 million fraudulent reviews. By policing pirate storefronts, it stopped 28 000 illegal apps, including malware and pirated copies. Overall, the effort reinforces Apple’s claim that its curated model remains a competitive advantage for users and creators alike.
