Apple is reportedly expanding its Car Keys in Apple Wallet feature to select vehicles from a major Chinese automaker, GWM (Great Wall Motor). Backend code suggests that GWM's Tank vehicles could be the first to support the feature.

While several GWM models, including the Tank 300, 400, 500, and 700, already support Apple CarPlay, none currently offer Car Key functionality. This feature allows users to lock, unlock, and start compatible cars using their iPhone or Apple Watch.

This development follows recent indications that Car Keys support is also coming to Volkswagen vehicles. Apple has been steadily increasing Car Keys adoption, with 13 additional brands slated to support it in 2025, including GWM-owned Wey. Currently, over 800 car models support CarPlay, with 52 also supporting Car Keys.
