Amazon is finally bringing its enhanced Story So Far recap feature to Kindles and the Kindle iPhone app in the US. The tool builds on the existing "Previously..." recap function that helps readers remember plot points and characters after long reading breaks. This upgraded version provides more sophisticated summaries to get you back into books faster.

The feature works across thousands of English titles, covering both purchased and borrowed books on compatible devices. Users can access recaps by pressing and holding a book to reveal the Read Recap button, or by tapping the three-dot menu while reading. Amazon notes that device updates may be required to enable the functionality.

A spoiler warning appears when recaps might reveal major plot points, giving readers a chance to skip ahead. However, the rollout comes with limitations - Story So Far remains exclusive to iPhone users, leaving Android customers without access for now. The catalog size also trails typical Kindle offerings.

This represents Amazon's push to improve the reading experience for occasional book abandoners. While the feature seems genuinely useful for picking up where you left off, the limited title selection and iOS-only availability suggest a measured launch rather than a full-scale deployment.
