Users gain granular control over menu settings, allowing customization with dark libraries and light notebooks. This feature has been available on other Kindle devices, making its arrival feel long overdue for these specific models.

The update introduces Smart Shapes to notebooks, providing pre-drawn lines, arrows, circles, triangles and rectangles from the toolbar. A new hold-to-snap tool lets users draw shapes freehand, which automatically align into neat designs. These additions should appeal to users wanting to add graphical elements to their notes without creating complex designs from scratch.

Amazon's update arrives as the company works to improve its Scribe ecosystem. The Kindle Scribe Colorsoft currently lags behind competitors in features.
