Meta is investing over $10 billion to build a 1-gigawatt data center in Lebanon, Indiana, marking one of its largest infrastructure projects. The facility will support both Meta's AI workloads and core products, with construction breaking ground as part of the company's massive AI build-out.

During its Q4 earnings, Meta announced plans to spend up to $135 billion in 2026 on AI expansion, up from $72.2 billion in 2025. The social media giant joins other tech giants in massive AI infrastructure investments, with Google targeting $180 billion and Amazon planning $200 billion in spending for the same period.

Meta's Indiana facility will use a closed-loop water system requiring no water for most of the year and includes $120 million in water infrastructure investments for Lebanon. The company will also provide $1 million annually for 20 years to assist with local energy bills and fund emergency water utility assistance, addressing community concerns about rising utility costs and noise from cooling systems.
