Meta is reportedly exploring the creation of its own cloud computing business, aiming to leverage its substantial investments in AI infrastructure. This move would position the social media giant directly against established players like Amazon and Google, potentially offering services such as access to its AI models or leasing data center computing power to other companies.

The initiative, developed under Meta Compute, could help recoup some of the company's significant spending on AI development. Meta has committed $600 billion in US investments by 2028, alongside substantial hiring for its AI superintelligence teams. This venture taps into the infrastructure built for internal AI training and operations.

Currently, Meta offers its Muse Spark AI model freely within its apps, with paid tiers providing enhanced features. The company is also integrating AI into wearables like Meta Glasses and developing personal AI agents, mirroring efforts by competitors such as Google. This cloud venture represents a strategic pivot to monetize its extensive AI capabilities and infrastructure.
