A Texas dentist faces felony charges after allegedly performing surgery while intoxicated on a pediatric patient. Kelly Buck, 36, was arrested Feb. 16 at Pediatric Dentistry of Sherman when police responded to reports of her showing signs of intoxication during an appointment.

A dental technician intervened and stopped Buck mid-procedure while she was treating an 8-year-old boy, leading to a 911 call from the boy's father. Police allege Buck failed a field sobriety test, resulting in a charge of performing surgery while intoxicated—a state jail felony.

Buck's attorney maintains her innocence, claiming blood tests will prove no drugs or alcohol were in her system. The licensed dentist since 2016 posted $10,000 bond and was released, potentially facing up to two years in prison if convicted. She was working through a staffing agency at the time of the incident.
