Terry Black's Barbecue is expanding beyond smoked meats into luxury wellness with a $8 million bathhouse planned adjacent to its new San Antonio restaurant. The Austin-based barbecue chain's parent company, Black Family Hospitality, has filed construction plans with Texas regulators for a facility featuring hot spas, cold plunges, massage rooms, and a salt float.

Named The Depths, the spa concept includes two hot spas, two cold spas, two cold plunges, a large linear spa, steam room, cold mist room, and high-end locker facilities. This wellness addition comes as part of a larger development that includes Terry Black's first San Antonio location, a proposed hotel, and parking garage. The barbecue restaurant broke ground in 2025 at 1411 Alling Street.

The bathhouse represents an unusual diversification for a barbecue chain, blending Texas culinary tradition with luxury wellness amenities. While San Antonio marks Terry Black's latest market entry, the company is also targeting New Braunfels and Tennessee for future restaurant locations. MySA has reached out to Black Family Hospitality for additional details about the spa project's timeline and integration with the broader development.
