A Rocklin Unified School District teacher has been placed on leave after cellphone video surfaced showing him urinating into a container in his Granite Oaks Middle School classroom. The footage, obtained by The Sacramento Bee, captures the educator - identified by students as Dan Champ - unbuttoning his pants and urinating off-camera before walking across the room and apparently pouring out the liquid.

Students were not present during the incident but entered the classroom about one minute later, according to the video. The recording was brought to school officials' attention on Feb. 25 by a parent. Champ, a sixth-grade history teacher and Associated Student Body adviser with over 25 years of teaching experience, did not respond to requests for comment.

School administrators sent a message to families that afternoon informing them of the leave placement while investigations proceed. An eighth-grade student told The Bee she had heard rumors at the beginning of the school year about Champ's behavior. The educator runs educational tour programs called Champ Tours for local students, with upcoming trips scheduled to historic landmarks and New York City.
