Authorities investigating the kidnapping of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, mother of Today show host Savannah Guthrie, have obtained mixed DNA samples from the crime scene. Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos revealed the samples contain DNA from multiple individuals, complicating the investigation.

CeCe Moore, chief genetic genealogist at Parabon Nanolabs, said the mixed DNA poses significant challenges for investigators. Moore, who has solved over 300 cold cases using DNA analysis, explained that the more individuals present in a sample, the harder it becomes to isolate a single person's genetic profile.

Despite the complexity, Moore believes the kidnapper should be 'extremely worried' about the DNA evidence. She noted that even with gloves and a mask, the assailant likely left traces of saliva or skin cells during the 40-minute incident. Moore emphasized that it would be 'extremely difficult' to avoid leaving DNA behind entirely, suggesting investigators may still identify the perpetrator through genetic analysis.
