MrBeast Editor Fired Over Kalshi Insider Trading Accusations

Beast Industries terminated a video editor this week after prediction market operator Kalshi accused the employee of insider trading. Kalshi revealed that a user who traded about $4,000 on MrBeast-related streaming markets with "near-perfect" success was actually a Beast Industries employee who "likely had access to material non-public information." Kalshi suspended the editor for two years, fined him $20,000, and alerted federal regulators.

A Beast Industries spokesperson said the roughly 500-person company founded by Jimmy Donaldson has "no tolerance for this behavior" and launched an independent investigation. CEO Jeff Housenbold told CNBC he implemented trading restrictions for MrBeast employees and Beast Games contestants several months ago. The incident highlights growing concerns about prediction markets, which allow wagering on events ranging from Super Bowl performances to political outcomes.

The controversy places YouTube's biggest channel at the center of debates over whether prediction markets constitute gambling and how they should be regulated. Housenbold, who previously served on the board of Caesars Entertainment, told CNBC that prediction markets are "ripe for abuse" and appear to be gambling, though regulation falls under the Commodity Futures Trading Commission rather than state gambling authorities.
