Kalshi has suspended Artem Kaptur, a video editor for YouTube star MrBeast, for insider trading, NPR reports. The prediction market platform detected suspicious activity when Kaptur achieved near-perfect success on markets with low odds, which Kalshi flagged as "statistically anomalous." His trades were also reported by other users after noticing his consistent winning streak.

Kalshi discovered Kaptur's employment at MrBeast during its investigation and determined he "likely had access to material non-public information" related to his trading. The platform has suspended him for two years and imposed a financial penalty five times his initial trade size, totaling over $20,000. Kalshi plans to donate the fine to a non-profit focused on consumer education about derivatives markets.

The incident highlights growing scrutiny of prediction markets, which operate under CFTC oversight rather than state gambling regulations. Kalshi separately suspended a California gubernatorial candidate who was caught trading on his own election prospects. The platform allows users to bet on various events, from sports outcomes to reality TV show results, but maintains strict rules against using insider information to gain an unfair advantage.
