Two teenagers from Mark Morris High School in Longview, Washington, appeared in Cowlitz County court Friday after being arrested in connection to a sexual abuse investigation involving the school's basketball team. The suspects, ages 17 and 16, face charges including second-degree rape and indecent liberties with forcible compulsion following allegations that varsity players assaulted junior varsity teammates.

Court documents reveal the Longview Police Department launched an investigation in early February after a father reported his 14-year-old son had been assaulted throughout the basketball season. Four victims ages 14, 14, 16, and 17 were identified, though their names remain confidential. The allegations include graphic incidents of sexual assault occurring between November 2025 and January 2026 in the varsity locker room.

Six players were initially named in the allegations, but only two students currently face charges and were given $15,000 bonds with orders to avoid contact with victims. Longview Public Schools Superintendent Karen L. Cloninger called the allegations "deeply troubling" and announced plans to engage an independent investigator to review district athletics practices. Parents expressed frustration over the lack of transparency, with some learning about the assaults through social media rather than official channels.
