Former DeRidder mayor Misty Roberts, 43, faces trial for carnal knowledge of a juvenile and indecent behavior with a juvenile. Prosecutors allege her teenage son witnessed her having sex with one of his 16-year-old friends at a late-night 2024 booze-filled pool party at her home. The charges stem from a mistrial in a previous case due to judicial issues.

Roberts has pleaded not guilty. Last week, jurors heard testimony from her children, ex-husband, and teenagers present, including a video interview where her son initially reported seeing the act through a window crack. However, on the stand, the teenager expressed uncertainty about what he saw.

The defense disputes the video's accuracy, suggesting possible transcription errors. Text messages between Roberts and her son revealed discussions about alcohol for the party and warnings about the victim's age. Her daughter testified seeing the pair together.

The victim's mother texted Roberts to confirm pregnancy concerns, leading to a delivery of emergency contraception by a DoorDash driver. Roberts' ex-husband, Duncan Clanton, testified she confessed and the children caught them, though he avoided discussing the incident. Roberts resigned as mayor days before her 2024 arrest and faced restrictions on contact with her children.
