Ford CEO Announces Record 130% Bonus Multiplier for Salaried Staff

Ford Motor Co. is set to pay its salaried workforce their largest bonuses in years after achieving a 130% performance multiplier for 2025. CEO Jim Farley announced the substantial payouts during a global town hall, marking a significant increase from the 69% multiplier paid in 2024 and 84% in 2023.

Despite reporting a plunge in fourth-quarter and full-year adjusted earnings before interest and taxes, Ford exceeded key performance metrics in 2025, particularly in vehicle initial quality. The Dearborn-based automaker's 75,000 global salaried employees will receive their bonuses at the end of March, with amounts varying based on job level and individual performance. The improved quality scores came despite production disruptions from a supplier fire and $2 billion in added costs from tariffs.

Ford's quality improvements are evident in recent J.D. Power rankings, where the F-150, F-Series Super Duty, Mustang, and Escape were named best in their segments for initial quality. This turnaround is particularly noteworthy given the company set an industry record with 153 recalls last year, though CEO Farley emphasized that initial quality metrics provide a better indicator of improvement than recalls of older vehicles already on the road.
