Ford Motor’s second‑quarter revenue slipped as U.S. sales dropped, but its performance was buoyed by high‑margin off‑road vehicles.

Despite the decline, the Dearborn, Mich. automaker is upbeat, raising its full‑year profit forecast and expressing confidence that Americans will keep buying pricey pickups and SUVs that dominate its lineup.

Chief Executive Jim Farley emphasized the company’s strategy: “We play only where we have real competitive advantage, or we can build one, and we’re ruthless about where we put our money.” He added that every dollar must athletics durable returns and drive profitable growth.

Ford shares surged 7% in after‑hours trading. The automaker lifted its full‑year earnings‑before‑interest‑and‑taxes outlook to $10 billion$11 billion, up from $8.5 billion$10.5 billion.
