A 31-year-old man died after being shot in the head outside a Queens laundromat Saturday morning, police said. Dominick Lowery of nearby St. Albans was shot around 8:37 a.m. outside Wash & Fold Super Laundry at the Conduit Plaza shopping strip near Springfield Blvd. and 144th Ave. in Laurelton.

EMS rushed Lowery to Jamaica Hospital where he was placed on life support before being pronounced dead hours later. No arrests have been made and police have not released information about a possible suspect. The shooting occurred in the laundromat's parking lot, with witnesses describing hearing a single gunshot.

Local workers and residents expressed shock at the violence in what they considered a safe neighborhood. The laundromat reopened Saturday evening after being closed for police investigation. Customers doing laundry were stunned to learn about the fatal shooting that occurred just outside, with some only discovering what happened after seeing news reports on the store's television.
