Twenty-six Doctors Without Borders staff remain missing a month after attacks on two medical facilities in South Sudan's Jonglei State. The international medical charity reported that two facilities in Lankien and Pieri were targeted in February - one bombed by government forces and another raided by unknown assailants.

MSF operations in northeast South Sudan have been severely disrupted by ongoing violence that has displaced an estimated 280,000 people since December. The charity's facilities have been attacked 10 times in the past year, with staff fleeing into rural areas amid aerial bombardments and armed clashes. Communication with the missing workers has been lost due to limited network connectivity in the region.

The escalation of violence follows opposition forces capturing government outposts in December, prompting a government counteroffensive in January. Displaced populations near the Ethiopian border have described horrific conditions, with many unable to find food or water while fleeing to safety. MSF's head of mission in South Sudan warned that medical workers must never be targets, expressing deep concern for both staff and the communities they serve.
