Consumer Reports has identified five Ford models buyers should avoid in 2026 due to persistent reliability issues. The Bronco Sport, Explorer, F-150 Hybrid, Expedition, and Escape Hybrid appear on the organization's list of 42 used cars with above-average breakdown risks, based on member survey data.

These models face numerous recalls, with the Explorer having 30 recalls alone, and the Bronco Sport experiencing fire hazards from cracked fuel injectors. The F-150 Hybrid ranked poorly for three consecutive years in reliability surveys, while the Expedition and Escape Hybrid suffer from transmission and battery issues that could lead to costly repairs.

Ford's reliability concerns impact resale values and consumer trust in the used car market.
