Parker Trent Kingston, a former BYU wide receiver, appeared virtually in court Wednesday on charges of first-degree felony rape. The 21-year-old, who was BYU's leading receiver last season with 66 receptions for 924 yards and five touchdowns, faces allegations of raping a 20-year-old woman in St. George on February 23, 2025.

Kingston, a Roy High School graduate expected to be the Cougars' top wideout this coming season, is no longer on the team according to BYU Athletics. During Wednesday's hearing, both counsels discussed discovery with no further requests made. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for March 23, though it remains unclear whether the alleged victim will testify.

The university issued a statement acknowledging Kingston's arrest and confirming cooperation with law enforcement, while citing federal and university privacy laws preventing additional comment. The case has sent shockwaves through the BYU community, where Kingston was considered a key offensive player. Prosecutors will now prepare for the preliminary hearing where they must establish probable cause to proceed to trial.
