Three Breckenridge teenagers face criminal charges after allegedly fabricating a story about discovering their friend dead from a gunshot wound. Mark Campbell Jr., Tylen Collins, and Oliziah Reyes were arrested and booked into Stephens County Jail for making false reports to police regarding the October 19 death of 19-year-old Zackery Smith.

The teens claimed they found Smith suffering from a gunshot wound on his apartment couch after Campbell woke up looking for his Airpods and asked for a ride to Smith's home. Court documents reveal all three provided similar false narratives to investigators, stating they immediately called 911 after the discovery. However, authorities determined the story was fabricated.

Smith's parents told local media that one of the teens was actually inside the apartment when the fatal shooting occurred. They believe Smith and this teen were playing with a gun when it accidentally discharged. The parents allege this teen failed to call for help and instead recruited his friends to create the false story. The investigation remains active with no additional charges filed yet.
