Deputies in Lewis County, West Virginia, have charged three individuals following a home check that uncovered juveniles living amidst drug use and severe neglect. On February 28th, authorities responded to a residence on U.S. Rt. 19 South in Weston to assist Child Protective Services. Inside, deputies encountered Joyce Alderman, 44, Tisha Smith, 38, and Tyrone Scias, 39, along with two juveniles.

The scene was described as cluttered, with dirty dishes, rotten food, and clothes strewn across floors. Crucially, juveniles showed deputies photos revealing burnt foil and drug paraphernalia like pipes in an upstairs bedroom, posing a direct risk to the children. While Smith and Scias claimed they didn't use drugs in front of the kids, Alderman admitted suspecting drug use and stated she had ordered both men to leave the residence.

Subsequent searches revealed more drug paraphernalia and significant food contamination. Smith and Scias face six counts of child neglect each, held on $60,000 bonds. Alderman faces three counts, held on a $30,000 bond.

This case underscores severe failures in juvenile welfare and the dangers of drug environments for children.
