Taylor Farms announced a voluntary recall of its guacamoles and salsas that contain jalapeño peppers after concerns arose about potential Salmonella contamination. The action follows an earlier recall of lettuce linked to a cyclospora outbreak and is being taken as a precaution to protect consumers. The recall was announced Sunday, weeks after the lettuce recall, underscoring the company's ongoing vigilance.

The jalapeño peppers were traced to a grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, which supplied Coast Citrus Distributors. Coast Citrus had previously recalled the peppers, and federal health authorities have identified that grower as a likely source of the ongoing Salmonella outbreak that has sickened hundreds of people. Taylor Farms said it has stopped sourcing from that grower.

Taylor Farms stated it has not received any reports of illness connected to its products containing the peppers. Grub Market, which acquired Coast Citrus last year, did not respond to a request for comment. The recall is being carried out in cooperation with retailers to remove the affected items from store shelves.
