Documentarian Rory Kennedy's follow-up to her 2022 investigation into the 737 MAX tragedies argues that a profits-over-quality company culture was to blame. "Freefall: A Reckoning for Boeing," about the aviation giant's recent history of fatal air crashes, is a riveting study of how a company can ruin its product, its culture and its brand.

The Netflix documentary includes accusations of years-long neglect of quality control, a policy of ignoring safety problems and persecution of whistleblowers. Boeing, in a postscript, denies many accusations and asserts that "new values and behaviors" have been introduced.

The Department of Justice in 2025 dropped its criminal case over the 737 MAX crashes and no Boeing CEO was ever charged in connection with the hundreds of resulting fatalities.
