Chipotle Sales Rise on New Locations

Chipotle Mexican Grill announced an increase in sales for its second quarter, primarily driven by the opening of new restaurants. The fast-casual chain reported a profit of $403.5 million, or 32 cents per share, a slight decrease from the previous year's $436.1 million. However, adjusted earnings per share met analyst expectations at 33 cents.

Total revenue for the quarter climbed 9.3% to $3.35 billion, surpassing the analyst consensus of $3.33 billion. The company attributed this revenue growth to both the expansion through new restaurant openings and, to a lesser degree, comparable restaurant sales increases. Chipotle also raised its comparable sales guidance, signaling confidence in future performance.
