Three people died Sunday when a 100-foot tree collapsed during an Easter egg hunt in northern Germany, killing a 21-year-old woman, her 10-month-old daughter, and a 16-year-old girl. The victims were part of a group from a nearby welfare facility, SterniPark, which supports pregnant women and young families. Around 50 residents and staff were searching for eggs in a wooded area near Satrupholm when high winds triggered the disaster.

The tree pinned four people, including the woman and girl who died at the scene, while the infant was airlifted to a hospital and later pronounced dead. An 18-year-old woman sustained critical injuries and was flown to a nearby medical center. SterniPark, which operates 25+ day care centers in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein, called the incident a “terrible tragedy” and thanked emergency responders. Meteorological services had issued high-wind warnings for the region, and photos revealed scattered eggs beneath the fallen tree.
