Nearly 40,000 bottles of Clear Eyes Maximum Itchy Eye Relief eye drops are being recalled due to potential contamination risks. Prestige Brand Holdings of Tarrytown, N. Y., issued the voluntary recall of 39,060 bottles because of a 'lack of assurance of sterility,' according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The recall began on July 29 and involves 15-milliliter bottles with lot code 2552 A and an expiration date of Sept. 30, 2027. Phil Terpolilli, a company spokesman, stated the action was taken out of an abundance of caution despite no confirmed contamination or serious adverse events reported. The product is distributed by Medtech Products Inc., a Prestige Consumer Healthcare subsidiary, and sold at major retailers including Walmart and CVS.

The FDA classified the recall as Class II, indicating potential for temporary or reversible health effects. Consumers are advised to stop use and return the product for a refund via the Clear Eyes website or customer service line.
