Jimmy Iovine and Dr. Dre, the influential creative force behind Beats by Dre and Apple Music, recently discussed the impact of artificial intelligence on the music industry. The pair, who have collaborated since the 1990s, emphasized that AI represents a significant shift requiring new ways of thinking. Iovine, 73, and Dre, 61, reflected on their history, from signing Eminem to building Apple's streaming service.

A central theme of their conversation was the need for interdisciplinary education to combat the rigid silos of corporate America. In 2013, they donated $70 million to the University of Southern California to establish the Iovine and Young Academy. The program, which has graduated over 100 students this spring, integrates technology, design, and business.

Companies like Snapchat, Crocs, and Duolingo provide real-world feedback to students. Iovine argues that the fragmented nature of corporate structures necessitates this holistic approach, stating, "Corporate America is going to have to change." When asked how, his direct answer was: "Hire kids from our school." Regarding AI, Iovine noted that this type of broad, creative problem-solving is exactly what advanced companies today need to adapt. Their venture aims to plant the seeds for a more collaborative future in education and business.
