Federal officials have recalled over 20,000 peanut butter products sold across 40 states after discovering plastic contamination during manufacturing. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration classified the recall as Class II, indicating potential for temporary health issues but low risk of serious injury.

The contamination was discovered in Ventura Foods products, which were distributed under multiple private-label brands including US Foods, DYMA Brands, and Sysco House Recipe. The affected products include creamy peanut butter packets and various peanut butter-and-jelly combinations in sizes ranging from 0.5 to 1.12 ounces.

Consumers in states from New Hampshire to California should check product labels for manufacturer information and follow recall guidance. While the recall was initiated in April 2025, the FDA's formal classification came in February. Anyone experiencing health concerns after consuming these products should consult a medical professional.
