Google has expanded access to its Gemini AI features within the Classroom app to students of all ages, previously limited to those 18 and older. This integration, part of Gemini for Education, is offered at no extra charge to qualifying K-12 institutions using Google Workspace for Education.

Schools must actively configure access, and individual student experiences are determined by administrator settings, account type, and age. Google emphasizes enhanced safeguards for younger users, including stricter content policies and additional data protections. The AI is positioned as a learning tool, offering features like step-by-step explanations, personalized quizzes, writing feedback, and research support, all managed within a school-controlled environment.

Teachers also benefit from Gemini in Classroom, with over 30 educator capabilities such as lesson planning, content generation, and material adaptation. Administrators retain control over access, usage reporting, and policy enforcement, ensuring Gemini is integrated responsibly into the educational workflow.
