Costco Recalls 200K Heated Socks After Burns

Costco is recalling more than 200,000 pairs of heated socks from brand 32 Degrees after federal regulators linked them to serious burns. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission reported 14 injuries, including 13 cases of first- or second-degree burns. The socks, powered by batteries, pose hazards during high-intensity activities due to heat, friction, moisture and pressure.

The recalled items, manufactured in China and imported by David Peyser Sportswear, retail between $30 to $46. Only medium, large and extra large black socks sold from August 2025 to March 2026 are affected. Heat sensors concentrated in the forefoot area are believed to contribute to the burn risk, according to safety officials.

Customers who purchased the heated socks can return them to Costco for a full refund. The voluntary recall affects approximately 208,000 pairs. Safety regulators warn consumers to stop using the product immediately, as the company did not respond to requests for comment regarding the potential safety concerns.
