David Sullivan has stepped down as West Ham chairman with immediate effect, ending his 16-year tenure at the club. The 77-year-old owner resigned to fight what he called "false allegations" about his private life, stating the decision was made out of "love, respect, and responsibility" toward the club and its supporters.

West Ham confirmed Sullivan's departure and resignation as director of both WH Holding Limited and West Ham United Football Club. The club emphasized that none of the allegations relate to West Ham operations. Interim CEO Karim Virani continues leading day-to-day operations during this turbulent period following last season's relegation.

Sullivan's exit follows the death of business partner David Gold in 2023 and Baroness Brady's departure. With Daniel Kretinsky holding a 27% stake and reportedly seeking more control, the club faces an uncertain future as it navigates both ownership transitions and Premier League promotion challenges.
