Liverpool Football Club’s owner Fenway Sports Group is closing in on a deal to sell a significant minority stake to investors including Jeff Bezos. The consortium, led by Amit Bhatia, son‑in‑law of steel tycoon Lakshmi Mittal, aims to acquire about a third of the Premier League side.

The deal could value the club at more than $6bn and may close this week, though timing is uncertain. Fenway and the consortium declined to comment. Bezos’s inclusion underscores the global reach of Liverpool and the Premier League.

The investor group also includes Facebook co‑founder Eduardo Saverin, who lost a bid for Chelsea FC in 2022. Liverpool is attracting investors as sports franchises become a sought‑after asset class.

Liverpool has won the Premier League twice and added a Champions League title. Revenue rose to £700mn in the 2024‑25 season, a record, up from £613mn the previous year.
