A consortium led by billionaire Amazon founder Jeff Bezos has moved forward with talks to acquire about a 30% stake in Liverpool Football Club, BBC Sport reported. The group, headed by British‑Indian businessman Amit Bhatia, also includes Facebook co‑founder Eduardo Saverin.

Liverpool owners Fenway Sports Group (FSG) confirmed that the group had expressed interest in a strategic minority investment. Bhatia, the son‑in‑law of Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal, previously served as director and co‑owner of Queens Park Rangers for 18 years before selling his stake last month.

Bezos, the fourth‑richest person worldwide, is the founder of Amazon and has an estimated net worth of $256bn (£192bn), according to Forbes. FSG bought Liverpool for a £300m deal in 2010, after earlier selling a minority stake to global sports investment firm Dynasty Equity.

The consortium’s interest signals a potential shift in Anfield’s ownership structure, with the possibility of new financial backing and strategic direction for the club’s future.
