Heathrow Flight Cancellations Mount as Mideast War Disrupts Travel

London Heathrow Airport is grappling with 300 flight cancellations and 18 parked jets as the Mideast conflict disrupts global air travel. CEO Thomas Woldbye said the war poses an "operational challenge" for Europe's busiest airport, forcing the formation of a task force with airline customers to manage ongoing disruptions.

While revenue impact has been minimal so far, Woldbye warned that prolonged fighting could change that calculus. The airport provides three daily updates to airlines affected by Middle East airspace closures that have left aircraft "out of position." Heathrow declined to specify daily costs but said losses remain "not significant" for now.

Despite these challenges, Heathrow reported annual revenue growth of almost 2% to £3.6 billion ($4.8 billion) in 2025, though profit before tax fell 37%. The airport maintains confidence in long-term recovery, with Woldbye stating "we'll come back to our curve" once the conflict subsides.
