Symbolica AI Accused of Copying Open-Source Code

A prominent open-source developer has publicly questioned whether AI startup Symbolica AI copied concepts and code from his projects. The developer, known as samchon, alleges striking similarities between Symbolica's December 2025 release of `@symbolica/agentica` and his own ecosystem of MIT-licensed tools, including `typia`, `tgrid`, and `@agentica`. Specific claims point to nearly identical code in their `unplugin-agentica` library compared to Ryoppippi's `unplugin-typia`, the use of a rare WebSocket RPC pattern found in samchon's 2015 `tgrid` library, and shared architectural concepts like compiler-driven schema generation.

The controversy deepened when developer Ryoppippi tweeted that Symbolica had attempted to hire him, then copied his code and removed credits before belatedly restoring them. Despite these mounting accusations, Symbolica maintains that their technology was independently developed, acknowledging only the `unplugin-typia` similarity. The dispute highlights ongoing tensions in the open-source community regarding concept attribution, MIT license etiquette, and the fine line between convergent evolution and appropriation.
