On September 17, 2019, Evan Lin, a Technical Evangelist at LINE Taiwan, spoke at the Chatbot Mini Gathering 12 hosted in Tianlong Bookstore Coding Space. The meetup, organized by the community‑driven Chatbots forum, featured lightning talks that showcased niche projects and sparked fresh ideas among developers.

Lin highlighted recent platform changes: the Flex Message update now supports clothing, itinerary, and task cards, expanding visual storytelling. He also announced that SDK 4.x will reach end‑of‑life on December 12, urging developers to migrate to newer libraries for security and feature parity.

The session on Cofacts introduced a public verification bot, @cofacts, designed to curb misinformation. Its architecture routes user‑forwarded messages through a state‑driven workflow that auto‑responds and flags dubious content, illustrating how bots can mediate trust in real‑time chats.

UX insights from Associate Professor Wen Ming‑hui emphasized that bot success hinges on purposeful reminders, group dynamics, and user agency, rather than anthropomorphism. Lightning talks covered niche tools like a Taipei city helper bot and a fitness tracker, underscoring the community’s role in nurturing innovative LINE bot projects.
