Google DeepMind has launched a sweeping partnership program in India, deploying its frontier AI tools to accelerate scientific research and transform classrooms. The initiative brings Google DeepMind, Google Research, and Google.org together with Indian institutions, offering access to models like AlphaFold, AlphaGenome, and Gemini.

Through the $30 million Google.org Impact Challenge: AI for Science, DeepMind will fund researchers, nonprofits, and social enterprises worldwide, providing engineering support and mentorship to turn ideas into scalable discoveries. In India, the partnership supplies AI for science to over 180,000 researchers, while the Gemini model is already the most‑used AI in Indian schools.

The program also tackles agriculture and energy. Agri‑AI models help farmers boost yields, and WeatherNext integration with Open Climate Fix has improved wind‑generation forecasts by up to 8 %. These efforts demonstrate how DeepMind’s tools can directly impact India’s renewable energy goals and educational outcomes, making AI a tangible driver of national progress.
