York Knights edged St Helens 34-32 at York, securing their first win over the Saints in 80 years. The match saw a packed crowd witness a high‑scoring affair with both sides trading tries, but the Knights kept the edge until the final whistle.

The first half finished 16-16, with Jon Bennison, Oli Field and Denive Balmforth scoring for the home side, while Jake Davies, Shane Wright and Jack Welsby lifted the visitors. A high kick by Jackson Hastings early on caused the Knights to falter, but penalties and a sin‑bin for Ata Hingano kept the Knights ahead.

In the second half, veteran Paul Vaughan and Nikau Williams added tries after Saints errors, putting the Knights 12 ahead. Welsby’s spectacular finish gave the Saints hope, but Field’s second try and late tries from Robertson and Douglas left the Knights holding on.

St Helens, now interim under Eamon O'Carroll, have lost eight of their last twelve and sit seventh, risking missing the playoffs for the first time. The Knights face Leigh next, while St Helens will seek redemption against Hull FC. Mark Applegarth praised the team's character, noting they "hung in there and grind out that win". O'Carroll said the club must tidy execution, especially defensively.
