Galal Yafai has pulled out of his unified flyweight world title fight against Ricardo Sandoval after sustaining an injury in training. The June 6 card in Sheffield loses its headliner for the second time, following Dalton Smith's earlier withdrawal. Yafai's team confirmed the setback leaves the British fighter unable to challenge for the championship belt.

The 33-year-old hasn't fought since his June bout with Francisco Rodriguez Jr, which was overturned to a no-contest after the Mexican failed a drugs test. Yafai, who captured gold at the Tokyo Olympics in 2021, remains undefeated in his 10-fight professional career with seven stoppage victories. His absence represents a significant blow to the Sheffield event's appeal.

The show will proceed with Josh Padley now headlining against Aqib Fiaz for the European super-featherweight title. While Yafai's withdrawal disappoints fans hoping to see the Olympic champion compete for his first world title, the reshuffled card maintains British boxing's momentum with Padley defending his championship on home soil.
