Dalton Smith will make his first defense of the WBC light-welterweight title against mandatory challenger Alberto Puello on October 24 in Sheffield. This marks Smith's 20th professional fight, and he aims to maintain his undefeated status in front of his home crowd.

Smith, 29, secured his world championship in January with a stoppage victory over Subriel Matias. The bout against Dominican former champion Puello was initially set for June but was postponed due to a training injury sustained by Smith. "I'm delighted the fight is finally back on," Smith stated, expressing his readiness after a proper recovery and return to training.

In other news, British boxer Ben Whittaker will compete in an IBF light-heavyweight title eliminator against Conor Wallace in Birmingham on October 3. Additionally, prospect Pat Brown will challenge for the British and Commonwealth cruiserweight titles against John Hedges in Manchester on September 19. Brown, with a perfect six knockout victories in six professional fights, is highly regarded.
