Cardiff sisters Aimee (25) and Hannah Watson are set for the Hyrox World Championships in Stockholm while juggling full‑time teaching jobs. Aimee, a former Wales U‑19 goalkeeper and cricketer, switched to Hyrox two years ago to stay fit in football’s off‑season. She soon recruited Hannah, a 22‑year‑old PGCE student, and the duo entered their first professional doubles in London. They train six days a week.

That first outing earned them a podium finish, and a victory in their age‑grade at the 2024 Manchester Hyrox secured a spot at the world stage. In Chicago they placed 37th with a time of 1:03:56. The sisters now target breaking the under hour barrier in Stockholm and hope to repeat their podium performance, demonstrating their rapid improvement.

Balancing PE lessons at Croydon’s Royal Russell School with early‑morning runs, the Watsons credit coach‑guided sessions and role model teacher Lauren Stockley for their progress. They train together on weekends, pushing through pain to improve each metric. Their immediate aim is to finish Stockholm under the hour and secure a podium place, proving they can compete with the sport’s elite.
