Welsh Fire captain Phil Salt has expressed a desire for The Hundred competition to be extended by a week, citing the demanding schedule his team has faced. "It's been a little bit hectic the last few days," Salt commented after his side played three matches in five days, including travel between Birmingham, Cardiff, and Manchester.

Salt noted the physical toll on players, particularly mentioning international recruits like Marco Jansen and Lockie Ferguson who are finding the travel challenging. "From a player's point of view I'd like this competition to be probably a week longer," he stated. The current Hundred group stage features eight games over 23 days, a condensed period compared to leagues like the IPL and Australia's Big Bash.

The Professional Cricketers Association (PCA) has previously voiced concerns about player welfare due to the packed English summer schedule. PCA chief executive Daryl Mitchell highlighted potential burnout risks, especially with the County Championship season remaining unchanged. Salt acknowledged the scheduling complexities but emphasized the need for more recovery time between matches for player well-being.
